KVMHA - COVID Vaccine Policy (Updated September 22, 2021)

As per the directive from Public Health, as of Wednesday, September 22, 2021, all KVMHA participants 12 years of age and over must show proof of vaccination.  Proof of vaccination must include two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine (waiting period of 14 days after the second dose is not required).

KVMHA participants would include players, coaches, managers, on-ice helpers, evaluators, and any other person assisting with KVMHA in a volunteer capacity.

At this time, we kindly ask KVMHA participants to forward proof of vaccination (picture) to kvmhacommunications@gmail.com or show a picture / paper copy of vaccination to a KVMHA representative.  We are hoping to have representatives at the door this weekend at the Qplex.  Participants will not be permitted on the ice until proof of vaccination has been shown.  KVMHA will not store submitted pictures once proof of vaccination is shown, a checklist database will be securely stored.  (Please Note:  While we are creating this database, participants should be prepared to show proof of vaccination at any time.)

FURTHER NOTES:

  • Individuals 12 years and over who cannot receive a vaccine because of a medical exemption, will be required to show a medical certificate of exemption signed by a healthcare provider.
  • Children born between July 1st, 2009 and December 31st, 2009 may continue participating and have until October 31st, 2021 to get their second vaccine and provide proof of vaccination. (It is expected that those born between January 1st, 2009 – June 30th, 2009 would be fully vaccinated.)  It is expected that there will be a transition period allowed for children born in 2010 who will be turning 12 in early 2022, further details will be communicated at a later time.
  • Players twelve years of age and older (with the exception of those 2009 birth years with birthdays between July 1st – December 31st) will NOT be permitted on the ice without proof of vaccination (two doses).  A spot on a KVMHA roster will be held for these players until October 31st, 2021, at which time proof of vaccination should be provided.  Any player trying for a competitive team that cannot attend the remaining tryout sessions, will be evaluated based on the sessions that they did attend.  In the case of upcoming U18 tryouts, players should indicate their interest for consideration to the Director of Competitive Hockey should they be unable to attend tryouts.

SPECTATORS:

Parents / Guardians and other spectators will be asked for proof of vaccination at the door at recreational facilities where KVMHA events are taking place.  Once all our players and volunteers have been assigned a team in the coming weeks, there will be a Covid Liaison per team who will create a database for their team’s spectators making this process a little smoother.

Any questions/concerns, please reach out (kvmhacommunications@gmail.com).

Parents will be responsible to screen their players to ensure they do not have any symptoms of Covid-19 as per the Government of NB screening form.

Government of NB Covid 19 Screening Form

YOU MUST INDICATE ON TEAMSNAP WHETHER YOUR PLAYER IS ATTENDING THE ICE TIME OR NOT ATTENDING AS THIS IS HOW WE WILL TRACK PLAYERS. This is available to be completed at any time before your player hits the ice. We will keep these records for the season in case they are needed.  When you click on the ice time, you can put in your availability. If not a team coach or manager can assist you.

If you do not complete the availability, your player will not be able to hit the ice again until it has been completed.

COVID-19 Planning a Safe Return to Hockey Course

Hockey Canada has partnered with the Respect Group to create an interactive e-learning course for volunteers, specific to COVID-19 and the Safety Guidelines which Hockey Canada has created. Hockey New Brunswick recommends that one parent or guardian of all participants and all team staff complete the COVID-19 online training. The link for the course follows below.

The module is available at no cost to membership (Hockey Canada members) and is 10-15 minutes in length. The program looks at some key information our membership needs to know to help to reduce the risk of COVID-19 in the hockey community.
